It is a well-known fact that around 85% of the water in the US is hard. Water, which has a high percentage of calcium and magnesium in it, is known as hard water. Sometimes the iron is also present along these minerals to give hardness to your water. These minerals may not hurt your health, adversely, but they have the potential to cause other problems.
Some Common Problems related to Hard Water
- Smelly water
- Dry hair and skin irritation (allergies)
- Orange and brown stains in washrooms
- Soap scum deposition
- Little lather formation
- Scale buildup on showerheads, aerators, appliances, and plumbing
- Stained clothes after washing
- A shorter life span of water-related appliances
What’s the Best Solution?
All of these problems are directly related to the hardness of your water. Either you use city water or well water; you have to deal with the hardness of water by yourself. Installing a water softener system is the best possible way to get rid of hardness in water. SpringWell’s water softeners can help you do it and make sure that you do not have to face any of the above problems.
In this review, we will be discussing salt-free and salt-based water softeners from the house of SpringWell. SpringWell has over 20 years of experience in producing quality whole house water filters and softeners. Their products are effective, reliable, and long-lasting.
SpringWell Water Softeners Review
Working Technology
Working technology is the basic process that a softener applies to provide you with soft water. The technology differs from one softener to another. The primary difference, however, is in the working mechanism of salt-based or salt-free softener. Let’s look at it in more detail
Salt-Based Water Softener System
It uses a softening salt to remove calcium and magnesium from the water. The salt contains positive sodium ions, and these ions are then exchanged with the negative calcium and magnesium ions in the water. This process is known as the ion exchange process. Once the water passes from the tank, the ion exchange process takes place. The tank holds the salt, and the concentrated solution is gathered in the brine tank. The system needs to be regenerated after some time. The regeneration frequency depends upon the hardness of water and your water usage. The regeneration process can be controlled through a smartphone application, and it is an automatic process.
FutureSoft® Salt-Free Water Softener
Unlike run of the mill slat free softeners, SpringWell’s futuresoft technology makes sure that you get excellent and consistent results. The salt-free system uses fluidization to make crystals of the salts in the water. These crystals are termed as calcite. The high-quality, efficient, and effective media inside the tank ensures that these crystals do not stick to any surface even under high temperatures. The technology used in the system ensures that you do not have to suffer a drop in water pressure despite the low supply pressure. It is designed in such a way that it can operate at low temperatures.
Water Pressure
Both the variants, salt-based and salt-free softener systems, ensure that you do not have to suffer a drop in water pressure. With a salt-based water softener, you can easily use water at one time in 4-6 bathrooms as it provides a flow rate of 13 GPM. If you use 3 washrooms at one single time and all the showers are needed at one time, then you need a minimum of 8 GPM flow rate. In this way, you can also adjust your kitchen sink and one other tap.
Salt-free water softener systems can provide a more enhanced flow rate of 20 GPM. It is more suitable for large families. You can select from three different variants.
Digital Meter Head (Salt-Based Water Softener)
SpringWell’s salt-based water softener comes with a digital meter, which gives you complete control over the device in your smartphone through Bluetooth technology. You can adjust and control your softener’s regeneration cycle, backwash routine, and timing. You can also operate the system with the help of a mobile phone application, which allows you to monitor valve settings and usage status. You can start a regeneration cycle from your app.
